Strange how a 45 minute mission has the sun in my face as I climb and then in my face as I return.
I don't think I have ever seen it high noon in there.
I've put some thought into this too after having a week where it felt like the sun was always low and in your face ~25% of the time. My personal hypothesis is that the MA sun, while not on a 24-hour clock, will repeatedley be in the same position it was 24-hours ago, if the map hasn't changed (I haven't figured it out for sure, but I think reseting/rotating the map resets the sun's schedule).
This would result in large maps, that take days (or sometimes even more than a week or two) to win, having the sun always in your face if you always up/play at the same time as the day before. It would also result, on large maps with large fronts and some distance between the bases, with players having a ~50% chance (same front today as they were on yesterday or the day before type of deal, and many play a little on both fronts each day) with players making "long" flights in that same into-the-sun direction day after day at teh same time in the evening/afternoon that they usualy play.
It makes sence to me, but I haven't really looked into it to be certain about anything. But if true and somewhat a cause of the problem and discontent players have, then a simple solution would be having the AH MA sun on a schedule that doesn't ends up with it in the exact same (or near same) position on the horizon 24-hours later.
