Isn't he a little old to be taking bases?   :bolt:

Jokes aside, how would they model it? Would you want a 3D image of someone pulling goggles down off the helmet? In addition, didn't some of the German sights have an optional tint lens that would filter out some of the sunlight?

I would be happy if the sun didn't shine through mountains and other objects... I think that would be a good place to start.  :aok

Note that while he is a squeaker, the pilot is standing in front of his P40E which is not EZ mode.

:rofl :rofl :rofl  Thanks Dan, needed that laugh

Guppy btw, what's that protrusion on the right wing in relation to the pilot?

An unorthodox guncam installation or what?

I believe its a gun cam.  They restored that bird all the way to Oshkosh Grand Champion.  Each wing has the three small bomb racks that the E model had.

Strange how a 45 minute mission has the sun in my face as I climb and then in my face as I return.

I don't think I have ever seen it high noon in there.

It was suggested by a squaddie that I post this and note the tinted lenses on the pilot's goggles as a hint that HTC should model that for us so we can fight the sun a bit better.

Note that while he is a squeaker, the pilot is standing in front of his P40E which is not EZ mode.

That's HTC's uber real life FM - you know back in olden days, you had walk to and from school uphill both ways.

I don't think I have ever seen it high noon in there.

I've put some thought into this too after having a week where it felt like the sun was always low and in your face ~25% of the time.  My personal hypothesis is that the MA sun, while not on a 24-hour clock, will repeatedley be in the same position it was 24-hours ago, if the map hasn't changed (I haven't figured it out for sure, but I think reseting/rotating the map resets the sun's schedule).

This would result in large maps, that take days (or sometimes even more than a week or two) to win, having the sun always in your face if you always up/play at the same time as the day before.  It would also result, on large maps with large fronts and some distance between the bases, with players having a ~50% chance (same front today as they were on yesterday or the day before type of deal, and many play a little on both fronts each day) with players making "long" flights in that same into-the-sun direction day after day at teh same time in the evening/afternoon that they usualy play.

It makes sence to me, but I haven't really looked into it to be certain about anything.  But if true and somewhat a cause of the problem and discontent players have, then a simple solution would be having the AH MA sun on a schedule that doesn't ends up with it in the exact same (or near same) position on the horizon 24-hours later.

Your assumption is incorrect. An  AH day goes from 5:45 to 18:15 I.E. 12 hours 30 mins.

What I think should be improved on is when you bring up the clipboard and it blocks the sun, it should block the sun and not go right through it.  Like real life.  That way some of us have that choice when desired.

Pging up/down is not practical.  :salute

that particular P-40 must be from North Africa and has small tires - good for sand. Now if it was from the Aleutians it would have gigantic tundra tires to help cope with the snowy conditions, and that's a fact. ;)

I cannot say that they didnt use small tires in Africa, but they are not good for sand, larger ones are. And skis are the only safe choice on arctic surfaces unless it is confirmed hard compact snow or ice, then large would be preferred.

I wasnt aware that they even had extra room for fatter tires, but it wouldn't surprise me.

+1 for sunglasses and non-transparent objects.

OK I guess I should have said, not really a serious question, but an excuse to post another picture of my kid in front of a P40 with his goggles down :)
