HTC purty please.....a VOX mute button...
« on: August 24, 2011, 05:41:22 PM »
I'd like to make this request once again after I was on the receiving end of VOX diarrhea the other night.

Please...PLEASE give us the ability to map a key or keys that would allow us to mute the various VOX channels in game. There are times when I get killed in a GV because there is so much radio chatter I can't hear the Jeep sneaking up on my KT. Or there are times when I rip the wings off a B29 because I can't hear the overstress warning due to people giving play by play reporting of every move they make.

Please...

Please...

Please..

Vote for a VOX mute key this November.

If you understand what was happening you'd know why that wouldn't work.

The other night I was doing base defense in a Tiger with other people. This was a hotly contested base and had LOTS of air cons overhead and enemy GV's inbound, couple that with all the friendly's in the area and you have a helluva fight. Anyway there was a huge amount of radio chatter, people calling each others 6's, people calling out GV positions, people calling out incoming aircraft, all of this radio chatter was technically relevant to the battle. The problem is at one point I was engaging tanks at close range with my Tiger, but there was so much radio chatter that I couldn't hear my gun reloading or the fact that I was taking hits to my side. During that time I was in close combat I just wanted to mute all comms so I could hear my gun reloading and listen for hits.

A radio mute button(s) would be VERY nice for a lot of situations where you need a quick moment of silence but don't have the time to fumble around with muting someone or changing channels.

Think of it like a TV. You have the volume set to a nice level but all of a sudden you think someone may be knocking on your door. So you mute the TV for a minute to see if anyone is there. When the issue is over you un-mute the TV and return to your program. Every time you need to kill the volume for a quick second you don't want to have to go into the TV menu settings and reduce the volume. See what I mean?

Maybe you want to hear squad vox as well? Id like to be able to mute range channel because 10+ people screaming on range interferes with my ability to hear squaddies.

I really want HTC to add 3 mappable key functions. One mute all VOX, two mute range, and three mute channel.

just add Shift-T and Shift-F12 to toggle the vox on/off for Tuned and Range. and activate the red AFK status in the appropriate column in the radio when either is muted.

I can't let my kids play this game, and I Never will unless some one invents a profanity filter for vox or I can turn Ranged vox on and off. At best I can turn down Vox all together.

My other problem is I have a kick arse sound system with Sound blaster Xi Fi fatality platinum sound card and Logitech z5500 speaker that allow me to almost feel the games. As much as enjoy letting my neighborhood experience the roar of aircraft engines and machine gun fire, I think they would be less enthusiastic with hearing some vGuy whine about how he got vulched/picked, needs supplies or didn't get the golden check six with all his or her colorful lingo and fbombs.

We also have a Deaf players in this game. Vox for them is a waist of Bandwidth and CPU cycles. and Although you can turn Vox down you can't actually turn it off.

I think it would be nice to have Tunable Vox and Alt Vox on your radio bar. Allowing you to have two selected channels including numbered Vox chan, Range, Squad, Mission, and Crew. As well as the ability to Turn Vox off completely freeing up resources. At least let me turn Ranged Vox off by itself and VOX off altogether.

Actually a mute button is a good idea.  There are times when concentrating that I need to tune out my fellow swine.  Every little sound sometimes can make the difference in certain types of fights both air and ground.  +1
