Puffy ACK Facts Request
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:26:23 AM »
Mr.\Mrs. HTC:

I have a few puffy ACK questions after reading some threads on it please:

  • For CV based puffy ACK, how high do we have to be to be safe from it?
  • For base puffy ACK, how high do we have to be to be safe from it?
  • Could you please share a chart showing effective ACK range once we are in range?
Anything to give us an accurate barometer on how you coded it so we know our chances if choosing to be in range.

Thanks very much,

Slade  :salute

CV and Base Ack is ineffective above 7k. When closer stay fast, exit low and change direction often.  :airplane:

Although I have been pinged by good players in manned guns.  :furious

CV Flak can get you above 7k of course so changing course often is nessesary to avoid it homing in on you.

Bombers are immune to AI puffy ack.  262s are guaranteed to get zapped by the 3rd salvo.  :noid

Puffy ack will track you further away than when it first detects you.

Direct fire auto ack detects you somewhere in the 7000 ft range.

3k alt before CV puffy ack locates you.

Or, if I'm in the area it's guaranteed to seek me out and give a PW. :uhoh

Thus my request for the facts on how the code is written concerning puffy ACK.

We all have similar experiences.  ;)

HiTech discussing AAA below. I haven't listened to it in a while, not sure if he gets into puffy ack:

Puffy ack has hit me as high as 38,000 feet over the city but I can fly directly over them at 40,000 feet.

When on a high hill near ships or the city, puffy ack will shoot at your tank but I received no hits in 1/2 hour of being upside down as it cracked all around.

Here is HTC's answer to the puffy ack http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,312766.msg4050937.html#msg4050937

This is exactly the type of thing that should be accessable by all players in a "FAQ" thread.  It would stop a lot of the rumors, or "I'm a victim" threads, or other such bantor.

HTC, can you create such a forum and have all such FAQ threads go there???  PLEASE!?!?!?!   :pray  Select a few of the more trusted members of the BBS to help add/remove/edit such threads so you guys dont have to.

I have flown by buffs way too many times over the cv, I normally fly no higher than 5.5 when trying to sink the cv.  I dont even remember the last time puffy ack killed any of my buffs.  I have gotten heavy damage from auto ack then puffy will kill me, but never puffy ack alone.  I have actually flown around a cv for about 5 minutes testing to see how much damage I get and it's minimal.  my  fighters on the other hand will die on the first shot.  just weird stuff.
