Anglo-American invasion of North Africa. It took place on November 8, 1942
on the coasts of French Morocco and Algeria, during
World War II.
Although the British 8th Army, under the command of
Bernard Montgomery, had been fighting against the
German forces in North Africa, defeating Rommel’s
Afrika Korps at the Battle of El Alamein, on
November 5, 1942
Wiston Churchill proposed an Allied invasion on French
North Africa which would relieve the 8th Army’s efforts,
definitely clear the Axis Powers from
North Africa, improve naval control of the Mediterranean Sea and prepare for an invasion of
Southern Europe (Italy) in 1943.

Academically speaking, the SpitV flown in North Africa wasn't as capable as ours was, nor did it turn as well. It was weighed down and slowed down by giant sand filters on the nose in many cases. The performance was notiably worse off than its cleaner "European" brothers.

Also at that time it had the larger ammo loads.

I suggest one way around this is to substitute the Seafire. It has the higher ammo, and is heavier. It's just as fast, so you don't get the drag from the Vokes filter, but it's a step in the right direction I think.

Too bad we don't have the 109E-7, because this is where it really shone. Between the E-4 and F-4 I think the bases are covered, though.
