Insurance
« on: August 30, 2011, 11:43:52 AM »
I usually check my connection before I up an expensive perk ride because of the thought of losing perks to un-natural causes(disco). Assuming the game can tell the difference between a real disco/crash and Alt/F4 angst, I would like to be able to put up extra perks, say 50% or so, to insure a return of said perks should any disco or game crash occur. Just like in blackjack when the dealer has an Ace showing. I am certifiable right? Wait don't answer that last one :bolt:!

I'm pretty sure it can't.  It's just another of the risks you have to be willing to take when upping a perked ride.
My Current Rig:
GigaByte GA-X99-UD4 Mobo w/ 16Gb RAM
Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0
Track IR, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals

Somebody needs to check disco's kill rate on perk rides. I bet he would rate the number one killer of perked rides.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

It might be able to tell the difference between an alt-f4 and a legit disco.

However, it's not going to be able to tell the difference between an alt-f4 and a physical plug-pull or turning-off of the router so the point is moot.

I am sure you are correct, I just wish and that the risk could be mitigated simply to pilot error and enemy skill.

Yeah I know, but sometimes you just know there is a face under that ace. Of course by then your in to deep. Its more my style to let a couple hundred ride on red once in a while. I accept the consequences win or lose but if the casino has a power outage when the ball is in play all bets are off. What I wagered shouldnt go to the house.

I think pilots shouldnt lose perks points if you get disco and there is no enemies for 100 miles. There has been times were I got reduced perk point loss due to disco so maybe HTC has a formula already in play.

It is not a client issue.  It is a server issue.  The server cannot know why a connection is terminated, it only knows the connection is gone.  The server has to clean up after any sortie, no matter how it was terminated, which includes perk point handling.

You can just think of discos as representing a mechanical failure that causes the loss of the aircraft.

Duces are like bad luck magnets. Without fail when I up a duce I get a phone call or someone shows up at the door.

This is something I wish would be done differently. I have really sucky internet in the town I live in and I think I have some thing like 31 discoes this tour.. So I rarely up a perk ride b/c I lose it to a disco more often than an enemy.
