I have been looking at that one, I like it, but I found this one and started it.....If no one else tackles that one when my plate is more empty I will take it on...I also like the first one you posted "Nancy lee"  I really like that one for some reason.

the guy who flew this was David Lee "tex" hill, someone describes this plane as showing more bare metal then paint....figure right up my alley  :D

I wouldn't mind trying the blue-banded nose variant. It looks rather awesome! Time permitting, is the issue.

So I'll just say this: I'll put it on my to-do list. First time I've had the option to do a P-51 since they've been full so long. If in that time it gets done by anybody else, so be it. I'll stop my work. However, until then I'll work on it.

"Nancy Lee"  P51D-20NA 44-72322 Lt Richard Baggett 402ndFS 370thFG 9thAF

P-51D-20-NA, 44-72322, E6 A flown by Lt. Richard Baggett of 402FS, 370FG, May 1945 out of Gutersloh, Germany.  Paint scheme is bare metal overall with blue anti-glare panel in front of the cockpit with blue prop spinner and a blue diagonal stripe on the tail.  There is text on the nose that reads "Nancy Lee", who was his daughter born July 1944, on the left side and on the right side of the nose is sexy noseart of a large breasted lady with black hair.

Lt. Richard L. Baggett was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He completed primary training in Santa Ana, basic training at Oxnard, and graduated at Williams Field, Arizona. He was then assigned to the 402nd F.S., arriving at Andover in June of 1944. He was among the first pilots to fly the first napalm mission in July. When reequipped in February '45 the squadron painted the spinner, nose, antiglare, under canopy and stripe on tail blue the squadron color. Lt. Baggett was with the squadron until the end at Gutersloh, Germany. He received the DFC for a bombing mission to Cologne, Germany, destroying a train carrying tanks and other war material. He also holds the Air Medal with 10 OLC’s and the Belgian and French Croix de Guerre. He ended the war with 66 combat missions.

"Nancy Lee" became a Swiss Mustang on 2/4/48 #J-2048 and was crashed near Lachen and withdrawn from service in 1954.

I was actually hoping that you would be able to put the last few bit of the puzzle together on this one. You do have a knack for finding the obscure.  :aok
