Download this offline testing gunsight. Copy both files to your sights directory. The second file is for some historical gunsights that are calibrated in Mil.

There are no dead eye special properties fighter vs fighter gunsights. Just players who know their sight picture and where the rounds will land by natural talent or practice. If you actualy do what I outline below it will help develop your sight picture relative to the aircraft you are testing with.
Go offline and set the arena time to (01:00 a.m.) or the white of the offline target will make it impossible to see the gunsight. Take off in your P51 over open north facing water so you dont have to climb much above 1000 feet while you auto level facing the target. Allow the aircraft to come up to cruise speed. This will be the speed at which the center of the gunsight stops lowering against the offline target. Don't worry that the gunsight center will be below the center red line of the target.
MilTest Gunsight PropertiesYellow tick marks = 2.5 Mil

1. Test your guns at 150, 200, 300, 400, 600 with zoom at maximum.
2. Keep track of the distance in Mil at every range (at or below) the center of the gunsight your rounds pattern.
3. Try different convergences to see your dispersion patterns relative to bullet drop.
4. With that data fly against the drones using your favorite gunsight.
If you have followed these directions you now have a starting point to understanding where you rounds are really going relative to the center of your gunsight. (Sight Picture) If you are missing left-right snap shots then you probably need to lead by 1-2 more plane lengths.
Here are my numbers for the P51D as of release 2.25.
