limited forward airfield for tank town gv battles
« on: September 13, 2011, 12:07:05 PM »
Just tired of hearing"the darn bomb****s ruined our gv fight"...maybe on a map where there is a tank town gv area in the center,we  could have the nearest airfields be smaller than our current small airfield with limited availability of aircraft and ords....exclude bombers from this forward makeshift airstrip.and reduce ords.for instance a p-51d would not be able to get 1000lb bombs....but could get 500lb and smaller and so on for other aircraft. and make the nearest NORMAL airfield a bit of a flight away to hopefullu reduce the amount of aircraft from it....maybe just one map like this...not all.

Are you talking about in the DA?  My thought is that it is a free-for-all in the mains and should stay that way.  There are strategies to deter bombers all you have to do is try it! :aok

Waystin what i think he is saying is limit the ord for bases around Tank Towns.. Take the NDIsles for instance, the air bases on the main island, the maximum amount that a plane can take is 250lb bombs.. There are alot of people that enjoy GVing and this would deter someone from upping a b29 just to land multiple kills from a nearby airbase.

Did I get your interpretation correct??

Why would they limit ordnance in the described locations when it isn't even a rule that it is a "tank only area" to begin with?

You can limit ords now by porking the ords at the airbase in question. Not doing so is no reason to whine about getting bomb****ed.

It's called getting in a plane and porking.  That might mean you end up dying though, and that'd end up hurting scores...  Better avoid that like Co-Alt fights vs. a 38G in a Spitfire XVI.   :neener:

I'll support this if you support an exclusion zone around all airfields that bars anyone driving a wirble or ostwind too close.

I understand what is being asked here.  There is an existing map we have that has a huge white mountain in the middle with nothing in the middle.  Flying to it can take time to get to altitude.  Would be cool to drive tanks around on it.  Maybe place 3 uncapturable bases with spawns to the center.  A king of the hill so to speak.

For those interested in only tanking and no care about base taking or defending could have a blast on it.

I don't know how programming works, but if the map is already there...

If this is something that would be seriously considered and you need me to name the map, let me know and I will research it.  If asked to research it via PM, I can do it quickly.

I can't remember the map name but it is the one that doesn't have CVs in it and has that HUGE mountain looking thingee in the middle that LOOKS white capped.  If done this way, then I give the +1...

We also have a map with six gv bases surrounded by 20k "walls" of mountains.... that no one uses to gv.

What I thought would work to get what you want is something like the Grinder Map. You have three uncapturable ports in the middle of the map. If they each had spawn points to a central island "tank town", there is no island there, you would need to keep the cv's there if you really wanted to bomb****.

Best advice, pork, pork, pork or learn to make maps.

Agree! I am one of the many who loves a good GV scrap and it is so frustrating when wave after wave of B17's. 24's, and Lancastuka's come in at 2-3k and dive-bomb the 50+ GVs in a fierce fight. I know that guys are just gonna say, "Well just up a Wirb or Osti and shoot them down," and I sometimes do, but I dont see a reason to keep giving someone free kills just to end my sortie around 30+ enemy GVs, up a AA Vehicle, begin shooting, only to be killed after downing maybe 2-3 Buffs.
