You said "anything chevy or Chrysler has to offer."

You didn't say Mustang vs Camaro or Challenger, you said anything chevy or Chrysler has to offer.

Last time I checked, Corvettes were made by Chevrolet.

You're on crack. The ZR1 beats any Ford made since Ford was winning Le Mans in the late '60's. The recently deceased Ford GT was no match for a ZR1. Not even close. Only thing it was better at was costing more.

You really ought to stop before you make yourself look dumb(er), man.

 :rofl

You understand that the Ford GT was built to be a signature GT car, not a pavement ripper, right? Completely different market. I'd take a Ford GT over any Corvette. Not because performance is the motive. Corvette cannot compete with the exclusivity and timeless beauty of the Ford.

Try to buy a Ford GT today, and you'll find that they can cost $50,000 to $100,000 more than when new. Beautiful car.... Sure the ZR1 goes like stink. But, it still looks like very much like a rather common Vette. There's no mistaking the Ford GT for any lesser car.

Want to build a Ford GT that will crush a ZR1? All you need are deep pockets. The Heffner Twin Turbo upgrade is expensive, but the result is something that devours a Veyron with little effort. 0-200 mph in just over 18 seconds. A Veyron needs 26 seconds. Even a Veyron Super Sport (at near $3 million) can't match this upgraded Ford GT, at 6 times the price. You can go visit Hennessey as well. Last year, their twin turbo upgrade set a world record for the standing mile at 263.3 mph. Watch the video here: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/ford/2006-ford-gt1000-twin-turbo-by-hennessey-ar110584.html

There is a Heffner Twin Turbo Ford GT for sale... Only 500 miles since new. Price? You'll have to call. But, let's say that you could buy a stable of ZR1s instead.

The new C7 is spectacular. Vettes have steadily gotten better until now they are on par with the best European cars in its category (and in some cases, higher categories too). The Viper is also vastly improved.

Just remember that the Ford GT was last sold in 2006. Ford hasn't seen fit to compete with Corvette and Viper to date. However, there are some strong rumors that Ford has been talking to McLaren... Perhaps, that's a sign of things to come.

As far as stock...........the new vette is faster since it has 80 more hp but the ford gt is superior in build, comfort, and has far greater speed potential.

We have both the fastest Ford GT and the Fastest Vette at work.

Irrelevant. I was simply countering Skorp's assertion that the Ford GT would beat the ZR1 on a race track. It can not.

I would take an Aston Martin over either of them for the same reasons. But those are all totally subjective positions and based on individual preferences, not real track performance numbers and hard facts.

personally, although i'd never buy one, i DO like the newer vettes. from about 98 or so on up. i worked on a 98 recently, that only had about 100k miles on it. honestly, i thought i'd remembered the interiors being of better build quality. this one was nearly new looking, but the interior was almost "cheesy" to me, yet i don't remember thinking that the last time i worked on one. the performance? good. BUT....disappointing for a corvette. unfortunately, i only get to work on them stock. i've never touched a gt40.  :cry

very true...I remember looking at pictures of a 69 charger that my dad had in Texas, I was born when he had it, so I have no recollection of the car itself just the pic....

so when I saw the Challenger, I was blown away, my girlfriend at the time just got 58K so she bought the car for me :O

nothing I have owned comes close to it...drove her everywhere cali and back Florida and back...beat that thing...ahhhhh....I miss those days... :old:

I don't think that finding a shop to build something to "crush" a Hennessey or Heffner twin turbo Ford GT be easy. AFAIK, the Hennessey still holds the world record for the standing mile. Nothing has crushed it yet. We're not talking a gozillion dollars... Price of the Ford GT, plus about $80,000 will get you a 800+ hp GT, with the suspension upgrades to handle that kind of power. Add another 5 grand for the N02 system, and you can have well over 1,000 hp. Still in the price range of many European super cars.
