I know its not about HP alone. I've been drag racing from the time I turned 16. I also autox regularly with a local Corvette club. I know from experience he won't get close to 12's with what yes got. especially n/a. I was once a hard headed teenager who wasted a lot of money to find out FWD really sucks especially for drag racing. I could roll race my car with 12 sec cars and beat them, but run from a stop on the track and i'd spin even with slicks. I am not just taking wild stabs in the dark. That car will not run 12's and especially not if he lives anywhere above sea level.

I hear ya, Pewter, frankly I know squat about drag racing, and never did it with a FWD. I have seen NA Hondas run 13's though, and he does have a built motor and if I remember correctly will be "bottle fed." Who knows... I sure don't.  :aok

Drag racing always seemed like a snoozer for me, I did it with Carolinas Region NCCC once at Darlington when I was autocrossing with the Corvette Club, and it just didn't do it for me. That's why I like road courses.... we had long straights, longer than 1/4 mile... but you entered that straight already hauling azz, and sucked up half of the seat trying to get it slowed down to make the turn at the end! THAT is fun!

In the spirit of the thread, some of my favorite photos...... ahh the memories

Pedalling as hard as the Integra would go through T3 at Lowes

The CRX at Roebling

Starting on the outside of row 2 at Rockingham, well ahead of P2 in ITB, and ahead of most of ITA and IT7.... the crowd ROARS!!!   :rofl

All those wins and two championships were all due to the skill of my hardworking crewchief, Cailyn... what can I say, she's a child prodigy!

My '99 Vette... I miss her  :cry

Now I just zoom around the streets in this, pretending I'm Hans Stuck!

a friend of mine has a civic si. it was new back just before i got this shop. he was afraid to beat on it himself, so he asked me. i told him only if he was in the car. his step dad was my boss, and was laughing, 'cause he knew what i could/was gonna do.

pulled outta the driveway, brought the engine up to about 5500rpm, and dumped the clutch. rolled smoke from the fenders, caught traction at the other end of the parking lot.....power shifted second, rolled a little more smoke, and got a nice bark from the tires when i powershifted third. at this point, i hadda slow down for the bend in the road, since i didn't know the car that well.

took it a few miles, and to be honest was fairly impressed with the little shoebox. he asked me what i thought it could run. i told him mid to low 14.s. he took it to the track that weekend. he got a best of 14.3. that's honestly impressive for those things.

Haven't found anything it won't climb... just don't expect it to do it quickly.
In the mid-restoration stage, that top/doors will go away but for now it's functional.
T-1 air compressor, combat rims, correct lights, canvas, etc sitting in the garage waiting for me to finish the engine/electrical.

When it's too cold to turn a wrench, you'll find me in AH.

thats a nice looking blazer, would like to get one of them but here in new england they use salt so most K5's are rotten.  I have a 96 jimmy POS.  I replaced the 4wd actuator, 2 years later back to the same problem no 4wd.  the window regulators are craping out, the rocker panels are rotten extending up to the rear quarter.  Nope not posting a pic as taking the pic might break it lol.  Oh and the ol lady got sideswiped on the front and it pilled the bumper all out of whack.  But she still runs good :rock

This was my favorite. I found her sulking behind a mechanics garage, a faded gold "sun bug". She had a squashed fender and prettiest ly crease along one of her doors.... hmmmmm I paid a couple hundred dollars for her, borrowed a plate from an uncle and drove her home. Over the next 6 months I stripped her down put in new floors a new fender and seats from a Mustang, did the rest of the body work and laid on the primer. Once on the road the upgrades slowed down....more fun driving it than working on her  :devil Then I spun a main bearing in that little old engine so I bought a long block with a special cam  :t and swapped everything over. While I had her tucked away in the garage I laid out the paint and shot it. Drove it for a couple more years until the kids were too big to fit in the back seat. Since then it's been "family" cars and vans.  :cry I miss that good ol' girl.

I told the wife she is in charge of buying cars, because the next one I buy is going to be a corvette  :devil

I even made a T-shirt with a drawing of the car on it and it said "RE-made in America!" on it  :D

Nice call on the 170! Great airplanes and I'm thinking of getting one myself. That's a 48', correct?
