Why do Americans get lower octane fuels than other countries?

91 is the lowest we (in Australia) have, 95 is average and 98 is considered 'premium'.

Yup 72 or 73 ventura... leaning more towards 72 because of the rear side window shape.  It is a sister to the nova.

98 Octane with no blend over here, no ethanol.



Are the others here saying that 'Octane' is not a global standard of measure? I can't be bothered reading up....

Looks like the US and a few other countries use the AKI rating, it's about 4-5 points lower for the same fuel used in other countries.  Most of the world uses the MON rating, aviation uses RON and the AKI is the average of the two.  Nice and simple

Bam! Hit the nail on the head. Limited Edition model. I'd have to ask my father about it. I've wanted to fix it since I was eight. My sister's boyfriend tried to pop the hood one day while we were all gone and he destroyed it....bent it to hell because he couldn't figure out how to pop it....

I have never seen one . I had a 72 firebird at one time and it had that same front end on it . So it must be a 72 model ?

 it was basically a chevy nova, but it had a real pontiac engine in it. buick apollo was also the same car.

 if i recall, there was somethign about having longtube headers, tripping a few codes.......a buddy of mine had the same thing. the dealer removed the longtubes, but stock manifolds back on, and replaced all of the cats.
