Hello fellow Ford owners,

I have joined this Forum to let as many people know about my problem as I can.

In April of 2011 I bought a 2011 Mustang 5.0 C/S, I was told by the dealer RUSSEL & SMITH FORD in Houston, TX that they would allow me to use Nitrous and a Tune on the vehicle and if any problems I brought it back to them, they would fix the problem and take care of me. Authorized by the Sales Manager.

I DID NOT USE NITROUS, i did however buy a SCT tuner and Cold Air from AmericanMuscle.com and Tunes by BAMA. Tune was installed on the vehicle when it had aprox. 1500 miles on it. From April to January the car had 4,600 miles put on it. Thats 500 miles a month. Just recently the car started to smoke (white) so I called the dealer, they advised me to bring it in and let them take a look at it. I did not want to drive it to possibly cause more damage to it so I called a wrecked under my Ford Warranty.

That stinks but salesmen will lie cheat and steal to sell you a car.  Warranties often are void when altering a vehicle from stock. The dealer is a franchise but the Warranty is from Ford Motor Company so the dealer has little say these days.

yea, it does. if i were told that, i'd want it in writing, and signed by the dealership manager.

that said, i honestly can't believe he thinks this should be fords problem. it is either his problem, or the dealers, if they really told him that.........

nitrous + any old tune and they'll honour the manufacturers warranty? I dont believe this.

well duh. thats not even run in for daily driving, let alone loosened up enough to start stressing it with tuning.

Good luck but they should read the details of their warranty.

Meh nothing crazy, just the 3.9L V6 pentastar with 8 speed automatic transmission. Its around 290 HP. The great thing about it is its increased fuel economy with the 8 speeds. It is rated at 31mpg highway 19 city. So far after 1000 miles I am averaging 25.5mpg. Its a great compromise between speed and fuel efficiency IMO.

From an Amercan Muscle/BAMA rep.

In the last few weeks, we’ve seen a ton of questions and comments about modifying 2011+ Mustang GT’s. We are confident in the quality and performance of our Bama custom tunes, and starting today; the purchase of a tuner with Bama tunes will cover cylinder #8 failures under warranty. Our lawyers told us that we can’t legally extend a warranty to existing Bama customers – the warranty has to be in place at the time of purchase. With or without the fancy piece of paper, we will be standing behind our tunes. We will be there to support both new and existing customers in the unlikely event that they have a cylinder #8 issue.

We all bought these cars to have fun, and worrying about your custom tune isn’t fun. We are issuing this warranty because we want you to be as confident in our tunes as we are.

Check out the warranty here…

If you have any questions feel free to give us a call or PM me directly.

What fun is a mustang if you can’t touch it?

I've received nothing but compliments on the performance and looks of the car. I get an honest 31mpg average on the freeway and have backed up 13 second 1/4 mile passes. Taking it easy I dial low-mid 14s so as to not beat up too much in the car when bracket racing.

What Will Bama Performance Do?
If damage to a Covered Component is not covered under any other applicable warranty, and it is established that a Bama Performance Custom Tune directly caused Cylinder 8 Damage, as defined above, which then directly resulted in damage to any Covered Component of your vehicle, Bama Performance will repair or replace (at Bama Performance’s option) the Engine up to a maximum liability of Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00) based on reasonable industry standards for the cost of parts and labor. After Bama Performance has paid the amount of maximum liability for a claim under this Limited Warranty, the Limited Warranty will lapse, and Bama Performance is not responsible for any further claims or coverage under the Limited Warranty.

This Limited Warranty is VOID and Bama Performance will not consider or be responsible for any warranty claims in the event that: 1) the vehicle is equipped with any supercharger systems, turbocharger systems and/or nitrous systems; or

Yeah? That's pretty standard. I wouldn't cover any aftermarket power adders either. If you're nervous about cooking your engine with only a tune, I think their idea is you should rest easy. My motor will still be under factory warranty when I throw a procharger on it and know exactly what I'm "giving up" (nothing) doing so. My thought is drive the thing until I know it's not a lemon and have fun with it. If something I do screws something up, I pay the tax. I don't agree with guys that try to snake major component warranty repairs because of something they very much knowingly did.  You see that on forums too.
