x52 and Windows 7

Guys and Gals who read this board


I recently purchased the x52 and I am having problems with the stick. I have a external usb  powered root hub since I read before here that is draws alot of power due tot he led lights. I am Running windows 7 ultimate 64bit and when I plug it into the hub the stick does not even light up and when I use the windows driver the stick is not showing, My question is do I have to revert to drivers from another window system to get it to work or is the Stick DOA any help would be great.

If the hub is plugged into the wall and powered up (most have lights when they have power) and the USB cable is plugged into your computer (you can check if it is "seen" by the computer with the device manager), when you plug the stick into the hub it should start the USB wizard and say "a new usb device has been found". If it doesn't then test the stick by plugging it strait into your computers USB plag to see if it starts the wizard. if it does the hub is bad, if it doesn't the stick is bad.

I own the older X45. I had a USB hub (was a older compaq hub) that when I plugged the stick in, it lite up the light on it but the stick was not recognized by win (XP at the time). Perhaps something similar is happening.

ok I think I bought the wrong hub it said mobile hub and I did not realize that til after I posted all my hubs in my pc work fine and nothing triggers the wizard I tried it in wife's desktop and got the message power surge in so and so usb port and I am starting to wonder if that did something to the stick. I been doing further research on the web and alot of people were saying you had to d/l the vista drivers for it to work with windows 7. now back to the hub i bought tonight it powered my old stick fine but when I went into game the stick did not show.

I have a win7 64 bit system and just started using a new x52 with a powered hub.  I did not install any drivers.  When I plugged the stick in the first time windows saw it and I was able to calibrate it by going to 'control panel'  'devices and printers', right click on the joystick and select properties.  In fact I did not have the powered hub to begin with but got it a few days later after a squaddie suggested I should probably get one.

You do not need any drivers, for any stick connected to the USB bus.

Yes drivers aren't necessary and even if they were you'd still get a notification when you plugged it in.

Try plugging the stick directly into the computer without the hub.  If it doesn't work then try another USB port.  If it still doesn't see it then it's safe to assume the stick is defective.

If it does see the stick then the problem is with your hub.

You might want to move the CH pedals to the external hub as well, or unplug them and see if the stick works where the pedals were plugged in.

Thanks to all who replied so far I will not be able to test any of these until tomorrow night as I am on a 36hr tour at work from call outs and people on vacation. I did try all the hubs when I got the stick never received the installing new hardware message and so on. when I tried it wife pc as soon as I lugged the stick the usb warning popped up for power surge for that port so I am starting to think that the stick was dead prior to that and I got ripped off on ebay and will be dealing with that guy soon.


Also when I tried my other stick on the external usb hub it powered the stick but when i went to game the stick did not show again leading to that I bought the wrong external hub and it was marked mobile usb hub so I will be testing all these out again when I get home.

no In total I only payed 49 bucks for it with shipping was just trying to save a buck
