I have never seen this game before. Found it on accident while watching Arma videos on youtube.

I had it.  Used to enjoy it.  Probably still have it in with my old flt sim disks.

I remember being very excited about the multiplayer possibilities of this game, myself and 4 friends had a Squad ready to go (the orig plan for the game was that you would be able to have 1 player for each position on the aircraft), then the Dev's ditched the multiplayer option entirely :(

That said, I might reinstall it for a bit of nostalgia, it had fairly realistic startup sequences for the engines etc...

Yeah I recently downloaded it from gog.com because I couldn't find the disk I use to have.  I enjoyed the management part of the game; you could name every body on the plane or take command of an entire squadron and manage all the planes and crews.  Take my advice and practice up on the norden bombsight before taking on a real mission; that games bombsight makes AH bombsight look childish.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Like, ya know, when that thing that makes you move, it has pistons and things, When your thingamajigy is providing power, you do not hear other peoples thingamajig when they are providing power.

The older, DOS version of the game is better in my opinion.  A LOT more targets and the enemy fighters will attack you all the way to and from a target (MOST of the times, you were intercepted twice by 4 planes each time you crossed an airfield's defensive circle.  Once when you entered then again when you were leaving).  The down side is, I've NEVER seen a 109 in it, but plenty of 190's, 110's and rarely, 262's.  You couldn't choose which targets to hit, no escorting fighters and you were the ONLY bomber in the formation doing any shooting.

The newer version allows you to play as a squadron commander and choose targets and manage the squadron.  You also have little friends, ALL bombers shoot at stuff and the eye candy is much better than the older version.  You can also fly any plane that is up, including the interceptors.  Down side is, far fewer targets and the enemy fighters will only attack you 2-4 times, after which the only thing that will keep you "company" is the flak for the rest of the mission.

BOTH games, if you zoomed in far enough on your target, you'll hear air raid sirens.  :x

While I was disappointed by the down sides of the newer version, it's still fun to play.  I really like the ability to choose my targets as well. :aok

Wow I find it hard to believe it has been almost 38 days since our last path. We should have release another 38 versions by now  :bhead

Once microprose went out of buisness, the game devs released which file can be modified to change the game. you can add more/less planes to your formation, more/less enemy planes, different skins for your planes, more/less targets.
I'm not sure how to do it myself (not all that computer literate) but a google search for B17 the mighty 8th mods will get you started if you're interested in that kind of thing.
