Quick observation -

your wing invasion stripes seem much too narrrow compared to the model.

but the scale of the weathering is to large if you take my meaning.

you need to make it all smaller and refine it. all the paint chipping is waaayyyy to large. less is more. and make the paint chips dark grey or dark greying blue.

the ms paint grime pixelated stuff underneath needs to be deleted

bare metal.

do not model the metal only. you need to draw what the metal is reflecting for any chance at an effective illusion of bare metal. it can be done effectively with the current ah aircraft skins and the basic 3d model setup file but it relies heavily on illusion of reflection. this illusion should be created to look most realistic in level flight.

you are not yet able to articulate or model baked in reflection mapping without a guide. the best way to gain an understanding of what the reflections should look like is grab a side profile view of a p51 mustang that is bare metal and cut and paste it onto your skin the see what it actually looks like in game.

using this as a guide develop a way to either refine elements of the photograph to a point that bits of it as far as basic colors are usable or find a method of  proceduraly ceating what is shown in the picture.

texture tie ins are still sloppy also all "panels" on a good skin line up precisely. if its off by half a pixel make one side end pixel 50% opacity and it will apear to be a perfect lineup on things like the invasion stripes

I tried to reflect the sky and ground but was not happy with the results so I gave it up...will try what you say.

on the wings turn it sideways so the reflection is same direction as fuselage...

blue towards the tips grey towards the wing root.

the vertical stripe reflection is inaccurate but very common illogical representation of what the artist thoguth the reflection should be since it is rare to have a good reference photo.

look at the default b17g skin wing as an example.

no bands though just sky above.

its obvious once you see it or think about it. in level flight the reflections on the top of the wing from almost any angle will be the sky above only.



try to paint a landscape on your fuselage and paint the sky above on the top wings and top of fuselage and the ground below on the underside of the wings and fuselage.
