stealth cvs
« on: September 22, 2011, 10:49:54 PM »
I would kind of like the Cv commander to have the ability to turn off the auto ack on a cv. There are times when I fly around looking for a cv simply by waiting for the auto ack to start shooting. If the cv commander could turn it off until he was sure cv was sighted then wow this might add some fun to the game. When he no longer commands the cv or its taken by a higher rank player then it defaults to auto again. You would have to be in command of the cv, not just turning it off in a uncommitted cv. Just an Idea :t

Seeing how some jokers like to tie up shore batteries when the boat gets close, I can see some very bad
things happening to a CV that is rendered defenseless by a single player.

surfin, not sure what settings you have, but you can see a cv from way down yonder.  it's actually easier to see it, when some dweeb is shooting at the base from 300 miles away.  so no, let the ack stay up or somebody might forget that it was down and it would be even easier to sink it.

Ya I can see that happening Rhino but at least then you would know who it was unlike tying up a shore bat. Semp I know you can but there are times Ive located a cv when I wasn't looking for one I was just going for a fighter sweep and happened to encounter it due to its auto ack. I also think once the cruiser starts firing then you would be out of stealth mode at that point. Like I said just an Idea.

Personally I'd like the CV auto puffy ack range halved, but made twice as effective to compensate. That way by the time you are in puffy range you'd easily be able to see the fleet anyway. Also you could cap a base being attacked by a CV without having to dodge puffy ack all the time.

I agree about the range issue, greebo. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to defend against a CV assault and not being able to climb past 3K because the boat is parked 100 yards off shore.

...So you want the puffy to kill all of the fighters that come into range instantly instead of only around half? ;)

to the OP...

so you want CV's to be defenseless and vulnerable when they already leave a huge trail of water-ripples behind them and the massive ships clear as day from 30k+?

ye....NO.

i find it funny that you want to make a crappy idea, then spell my name wrong when its right in front of you then cry about me posting.

people can just AFK while in the CV, still having control and turning off auto-ack for the other side so they dont have to do any work to sink that CV.

big problem i see with this is CV's are offten left "open" as in no one has command of them that way anyone who needs to can useally turn the carrier as the commander may be in flight and not on the ship...(dont ask me how that works) so anyone could jump on a cv shut its defences off and go afk or forget its off or have no intent of turning it back on..and end up getting the fleet sunk...

as for "rank" to controll a cv you dont have to be good or smart.. to have a good rank so just because somone ranked 50 steals command of it dosent mean he has any clue wth he is doing or...whos to say he is not playing for the otherside

i see those being the 2 large issues here... that will without a doubt in my mind be exploited at some point

and possibly wrong but.. as far as i know only time cv's didint open fire on planes was at night but the escourt ships still would..

There's a couple of possible solutions to the high flying buffs problem. They could introduce a wind layer at 15K or so to force buffs lower in order to bomb accurately. Or code it so the puffy ack range to buffs remains the as it is now but is reduced for other aircraft. Puffy ack seems almost entirely useless against buffs anyway, it only seems to kill fighters.

I never go above 10K when CV hunting. IIRC I have 3-4 kills so far, and 2-3 more severe damages

if your above 7k when trying to kill a CV, have fun. once you get past the 7k mark it gets extremely hard. mainly because of the leading/compensation for turning.

I would like to see the ships individually controllable.

They return to the fleet when someone is not in control of them.
