Lol guys, noobs ARE people and I meant that the guys in the squad are greener than Absinthe lol. I have no problem helping guys learn the game and have done so many times. I was merely sayin that I could use some guys that are Veterans to help build JG5 and help me. As far as land grabbing goes, I think that It has been happenin but it is just harder when you have more fighters in the air. Not that guys gravitate to A to A fights, but you have to have Air Superiority to launch ground offensives. I think the stalemate is just fine seeing that the Allies predicted a million casualties if they were to invade Japan, and that was just estimates for the Landings and not thi campaign that would have followed. I do think its time to change the Scenario though lol. WHats next anyways?

In reality Japan would have just been overwhelmed with US resources, probably all the ships in our inventory would have been thrown at em along with contingents from several other countries and non-stop bombing with thousands of heavies.

For game play purposes a seesaw battle ending in a stalemate is a pretty good result.

Jaeger's Battle of the Bulge scenario starts tomorrow.

All good points.  The setup was great Jimson.  I just have personal views on Icon range, some agree some dont, but the setup was great in itself.  <S>

I concur on the setup.  I flew both sides and you get a sense of what the Japanese would have faced as far as types of aircraft coming at them.  The biggest glaring difference was the Pony's and U4's.  They simply had very little in their inventory that would have been able to keep up with these two birds.  I only died when flying either when I decided to fight it out instead of BnZing the Nik's, Zeros & Ki's to death.  I would imagine that in real life the pilots would not do this.  Throw in High Alt bombing by B-29's and it would have been a fearsome enemy to fight.   Anyway long story short, it made me think, and it was a great setup! :aok

I'd like to make an observation.  Keep in mind, this is an outsiders perspective after spending a few hours in the AvA and reading the threads here in the AvA forum.

One thing that was glaringly obvious to me, while flying in the AvA...  An abnormally high number of people who fly in the AvA, have their tracers turned off.

As a new guy in the AvA, getting used to the shorter icon ranges and reading in here how some people (seemingly a fair number of regulars) want icons turned off completely, then seeing so many people with tracers off in game...  It really gives the impression that the regulars wish to take advantage of short/no icons to sneak up on people.

As a new guy, all the talk of fair fights and more honorable behavior seems a bit thin when faced with so many regulars shooting in "stealth" mode.

Just an observation, take it for whatever it is worth.

Well icons off requires a very high sense of SA but also remember, its just as hard for him to see you as it is to see him.  For the guys that prefer no icons its not to sneak up on someone, just makes focusing on the fight and the situation around you more important.  Its not as easy to find the enemy if he evades you after the merge or when your on his six if he doesnt have a huge red number tagged to him.

While the no-icons era may have caused some of this, many of us had turned tracers off long before that.

So are your tracers on or off?

never tried without tracers.  Planes had them in the war and I use them in the game.  Then again I also dont dive bomb in lancs or try to use aircraft for purposes they were not used for in the war.

There were instances of tracers not being used.
