New Headset and SoundCard
« on: September 27, 2011, 01:54:08 PM »
Well gents

I recently bought a new sound card and headset for my rig and I have had it installed for a while and gonna give a review for them.

Sound Card

Creative SB X-Fi Titanium

Sounds are pure and crisp. I have noticed the difference over the G35 headset I had is like going from night to day. The option to turn on the TRUE 7.1 surround is awesome and freaks me out sometimes as I look behind me to find no one there.  :lol I have heard many bad reports on the SB series of cards and I have none to report. BTW unlike the g35 which only had 4 morph capabilities i now have 21 different voices I can use. The only drawback i really can think of is the price on line, I was luck and bought this card at Best-Buy for 99.00 and I opted for the 3 year warranty on it.

Headset

Plaintronics Gamecom 777

Pro's
Very light weight, price was good and the mic is sturdy for the price. Gold plated tips and very long cord.

Con's
No ability to change to the felt earcups so my ears get warm after awhile. volume control is a little awkward to reach for (considering the volume control was on headset of my g35)

All in all just changing those 2 items made a hell of a difference in the imerssiveness of the game. So my biggest question is why did i go so long without going this route???

I was looking at the same headset since it uses a cord and I want to use my buttkicker set up. I currently use a g930 wireless. Do the earcups go around your whole ear? Also, would you say the headset is better than your g35?
