Last weekend we were visiting my son at college and decided to go visit the Museum of the United States Air Force. Turns out we stumbled upon their annual WW1 fly in and encampment. While I didn't have my longer lens with me, thought I'd share the shots I could get...
It was cool to see these reproduction aircraft fly, and the feel was a bit different from other airshows. It was a good bit smaller, with a lot fewer people and fewer airframes. The engines aren't nearly as loud - from a distance, they sounded almost like those old .049 glow plug planes we used to mess around with as kids. Their lower airspeeds meant they flew closer to the field all the time. And they are oh, so much smaller than the craft I'm used to.
Nice afternoon having some unexpected fun!
