"Aces High General Discussion?"
« on: October 04, 2011, 01:07:46 AM »
I've noticed for some time many "Locked" subjects, either moved, or locked all together.  Subjects of general nature.  HTC what's your defination of "General"?  I'm one to jump an a soap box, hands down.  But it almost seems to me, if a post is not one of taste for HTC it gets either moved, or locked.

I'm open for input.  You may either lock, or move my post.  But I'm just failing to understand the motive(s).

The way I understand it is General Discussions are discussions about Aces High (or the forum) that do not go into any other section of this forum. If they do than they should be placed there. Topics that have nothing to do with Aces High should go into the O'Club section.
I been following this logic for the past few years and I don't think I ever had my thread moved.

Have you read the forum posting rules?  :headscratch: Most threads locked break one of them.

Have you read the forum descriptions below the forum titles?
Most of the "moved" stuff gets moved to the more appropriate forum.
The "locked" stuff is locked for either blatant rules violations or they have turned into unproductive arguments that no longer add anything to the original post.

Quote
Aces High General Discussion
Open forum for the general discussion of Aces High.
Quote
Custom Arenas
Discuss anything and everything related to custom arenas
Quote
The O' Club
Open forum for off-topic and less serious discussions.

A lot of the stuff posted in "Aces High General Discussion" have nothing to do with discussions about the game, because people only see "general discussion" and assume it means they can post about anything. So, those posts eventually get moved to "The O' Club" or whatever.

Having a topic moved is not a big deal, it is just standard maintenance we do.

As to what is general discussion, it is basically anything to do with AH that does not fit into one of the other AH categories.

When a thread is moved the original thread is always locked. It doesn't have to be a rules issue.

1- Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting.

A thread that's been moved violated rule #1.  :)

That's not always true. Some posts fit more than one forum so it's not necessarily a rules violation when a mod thinks it's better in a different forum.
