There is always one who has to ruin it for everyone by giving away the ending  :old:

a spoiled rebellious chunky girl floats off while the dude commits suicide rather than spending his life with her stupidity?  Didn't see that coming.

You think Kate Winslet is "chunky"... wow   :headscratch:  Nothing chunky about her, she was/is as physically perfect as a woman can be.  You like curve-less bean poles for women?    To each his own, I guess.   :)

"Downfall" is a great movie, I've watched it multiple times and even have been invited back to my Alma-mater by a professor of mine to be involved in discussions with students in a poli-sci class regarding said movie.  I always enjoy discussing the similarities/differences between the Nazis and the government of today, a lot of otherwise ignorant and brainwashed people leave those discussions rather wide-eyed.

The only real issue I have with the movie, is that more could have been done "out in the trenches" to show how the ignorance of Hitler effected those who were following orders and fighting with no other real reason than simply "to defend".  More scenes of everyday soldiers fighting, pondering, etc.  Otherwise, I think the movie did a fine job at portraying the final days of the thousand year reich.    :aok
