I have used a lighter to spot check one of my buddies before, it smelled but was very effective  :aok

Anyway, my favorite cream is Edge. I used to use Barbasol but I always made a mess  :o. Edge comes out like a gel and when you lather it it turns to the foam you'd expect, I find it easier to use. The cans are also skinnier too so it's easier to pack (which for me is kinda' important).

the day men start getting lazer hair removal on facial hair is the day the term 'man' becomes void.

Don't have a father to teach you?

http://www.gillette.com/en/us/mens-style/how-to-shave.aspx

As far as I'm concerned, the Gillette Sensor Excel is the best razor ever made.  It does a good job and the blades are (relatively) cheap.  Some of the new models may work nice but when the blades cost $5 or $7 or even more each then it just gets ridiculous.  Luckily I don't have to shave every day and I usually keep a short goatee so one blade will last me a month or two.  I bought two 24packs of blades on sale at Sam's several years back for $8 each (at a cost of about 34 cents a blade).  I'm down to my last two blades though  :cry luckily its blades still seem to be plentiful and available although they typically run about $1 to $1.50 per blade at places like Walgreens.

Do *NOT* use disposable or generic brand razors.  They may come in handy in a pinch but you will cut yourself up and it will take four to five times as long!  If I don't cut myself with one it does a poor job of shaving and leaves me with a rash.  I made the mistake of buying generic brand blades for my Sensor.  I used one once and threw the other 9 blades away.  They really were THAT BAD!

I personally use an anti-fogging shaving mirror in the shower to shave with and I almost NEVER use shaving cream.  If I do need an extra close shave for whatever reason (or if it's just been awhile since I shaved) I'll use some hair conditioner in lieu of shaving cream.  I think it works better anyway!

guess I'm no longer a man...darn (rips up man card)  :(

btw, it is laser not lazer.  I use to be a laser tech, so I'm a little  :noid about that one
(anybody else here know what laser stands for?)
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

Argh, my beard is starting to come in.  I don't really know what to do about it.  I could shave it with a straight razor, a safety razor, or an electric razor.  I could also wax it or have it removed via laser beam.  Shaving sounds like a hassle, and a potentially life-threatening one at that; I could nick some big blood vessel while trying to get that last bit of beard off.  Waxing sounds painful, and lasers sound expensive.

What can I do?  Preferably, I'd like to get it removed permanently.  I just can't see myself as a kid with a hairy face.

-Penguin

Wax it off once, just do it.

Peng

you're going to get a lot of advice but you have to figure your own way and different styles work for different skin types.  Some tips I can give you that might help is I shave down my face and neck apply another layer of shaving cream then go up and side to side.  Tends to give me a very close shave that lasts longer.  Again what works for you is what works.  If you decided to go electric make sure you get new blades on a fairly regular basis because when they get dull they will pull the hair out and that hurts and makes a nasty rash.  Always use as sharp a blade as you can.  I get about 8 good shaves out of a Fusion blade doing my face and head but I only shave once or twice a week (one of the good thing about getting old and not caring much) so that's a little better than a month per blade.

Good luck

But seriously, as already mentioned, Gillette Sensor Excel and Edge gel.  Easy!

Disposable or straight? :headscratch:

My dad is a disposable guy but I just like the sound of a straight razor.
