Changing Hit Sound Volume Halves All Sound Output
« on: October 13, 2011, 02:38:51 AM »
Using Mitsu's latest soundpack, I decided the sounds of getting hit were far too loud after playing with it for a week or two. So, I closed my game, opened up the sounds configuration file in Notepad, changed these values down from 1.0...
Quote
0.600000,hit
0.650000,hit_5
0.700000,hit_6
...saved it, restarted my game, and now my speakers need to be turned up twice as much to hear any sound coming from the client at the previous levels. That includes VOX, engine noises, guns, music...anything. I've checked, and the game's master volume and my system volume are both still 100%, as they have been for years.

Maybe you edited the wrong values, or missed some? Have you tried using the in-game advanced sounds sliders?

I didn't change anything except exactly what I put in the quote. I didn't use the in-game sound sliders because I wanted to open up the sound files in WinAmp to hear each one and recognize which needed to be lowered. And because they're too inaccurate for my OCD-ness.

I should also note that I did it all at once; I was playing, closed the game, made those adjustments, fired the game up and had extremely quiet sound. I didn't do anything inbetween. (I'd have just edited my above post, but it's too late)
