Frys in Houston
« on: October 15, 2011, 08:02:16 AM »
is the biggest mass of computer stuff i've ever seen :O. They have just about everything electronic that you could imagine.
They even have some nice sticks there, too. Probably the only place that has a decent amount of pc games from what ive seen here around here (besides other Frys). :aok

Ahh yes a great place to get your geek on.  Just make sure you know exactly what you're looking for before you go in.

I can't go into Frys without spending a very long time in their, thankfully the girlfriend always wants something to get there as well, mostly Wacom tablets though.

I've pretty much quit buying from Fry's. They're always and I mean always are out of stock for the hot ad items. If you buy a component, be prepared to take it back (sometimes 2 or 3 times) because it doesn't work. Now I buy 99% of my geek stuff from Newegg and Tiger Direct. You have to wait on UPS, but it's worth it.

That is a bold general statement, and it is incorrect. You know why?

Cause the Frys in Houston is the @$#%....always had everything I needed....motherboards, graphics cards, processors, sound cards, games, controls, software...ect. Never walked in and was out of stock of any item I needed, except for christmas. Only had 1 item to take back and it was a dead motherboard, went in and within 5 minutes had a new one, no charge. Excellent place.

Honestly, I've had horrible luck at Fry's in Dallas and Arlington. They were always out of the ad items because they only had 5 or 6 of them when the ad came out and would put me on a waiting list. Almost every card I've bought there I had to return (one 3 times). Maybe this would be less of a hassle if I didn't live 75 miles away.

Newegg and Tiger Direct? Not 1 item returned and never any out of stock issues.

YMMV.
