Mission Editor Crashing
« on: October 18, 2011, 05:47:38 PM »
When trying to save a mission the editor crashes, giving the error 'ahedmiss has stopped working.'

Unable to reproduce.  Can you send in the *.mis file to support?

*Bump*  Just wondering if this is a bug or something on my end.
I could try reinstalling the game, but dial-up kinda' sucks.

Don't bother reinstalling.  That mission is all corrupted.  If you look at it in a text editor you can see all sorts of weirdness.

I haven't had time to follow up on this as I'm working on other things but you shouldn't mess with that mission anymore.  Maybe you can re-enter it in under a new mission name, but I'd do something simple first and save.  Continue doing that to make sure your mission is OK.

No problem Sudz, I was just going to do a little tweaking on my missions.  The files are intact, until I try and save them.  That's when the corruption appears.
I'm sure this will be addressed soon.  I'd rather see the game continue forward, as this is some issue minor I hope.

Sorry - But I've been having a similar issue...

Although my editor did not crash, the file did become severely corrupted...

Any update on this? ;(

oh here's a screenshot of what decided to rear it's ugly head!

Dont know how it got corrupted. Can y'all tell me a little about your op systems, # of files in the 'offmiss' folder, what you were doing during the session? (i.e. working on one mission and switching to another, prompted for saving the mission and did/didn't, what kind of events were added, if any, etc.)

Thanks,
- sudz

OS  Windows Vista 32 Bit
CPU AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core 2.5GHz
GPU EVGA GTS 250
RAM 4GB

This happened the first time I ran the editor since the last update.  I have 0 files in the 'offmiss' folder, 9 files in the 'misstemp folder', and 9 files in the 'missres' folder.
Even when trying to create a new mission from scratch, the file is corrupted upon saving.
I can load any of my 9 missions into the editor, run it and make changes.  I just cannot save it without crashing.
I just deleted all files in my 'misstemp' & 'missres' folders, to see if that would help.  No luck with doing that.

To start I just returned to the game so I dumped everything I had in my HTC file.
I down loaded everything  new about three weeks ago.I am having the same trouble
with my off line mission editor as FBcrabby.I tried to save the mission group properties
before I did anything else and it crashed.
So I went and made a simple one plane take off go around the field and land. I tried
it and it worked fine until I saved it. After I saved it I tried to open it and it crashed
every time. Here is the info about my computer.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 vid card.

Microsoft windows xp
professional
Version 2002
service pack 3
Intell(R)corel(TM)2 Dou cpu
E8400 @3.00 GHz
2.99GHz 2.98GB of RAM
32  bit.

I have a workaround.

This sounds exactly like a problem with which I have struggled. The current  version of the Mission Editor (2.26.3) corrupts my .mis source files. This seems to happen if I ever make any changes to a mission.

My workaround: I use an OLDER version of the Mission Editor to change and save the source file. Then I open the changed file using the new Mission Editor, which I use ONLY to "Build Resource Library". That process is working fairly well for me.

32 bit Windows XP, Service Pack 3. 2GB RAM.
