Sooo... WoW
« on: October 18, 2011, 09:57:16 PM »
World of Warcraft... How in the hell do people get into this poor excuse for a game?
I got to level 10 in and gave up caring in my experiment to understand how it's become a crack addiction to some.
Half a bottle of Gin later and it's still no Baldur's Gate II

That's about the time I got bored with it too.. It was fun up until that point but then it was all repetitive nonsense.

Haha yeah, we are the coolest people alive playing our World War Two combat simulator.  That doesn't make us nerds, yeah.  Oh wait... this is definitely nerdy.

It was really good for the first year, there was a tight community (I played Arthas, EST PvP - BGC/Aurora/TC guilds) and the grind was not so bad - not a lot of items, not a lot of all this enchantment and gear and farming and whatever people do in there now.  Then the game hit mass market in a big way, thy decided to let people move from different servers, th community got split up, but I was already gone by then so. . .

Like AH, if it ever had say 4000 people online at once, or even 10,000 people - it would change this community and I don't think a lot of people would be happy.  Sometimes its nice like this, large enough to support the game and develop slowly, small enough to sit around and read radio Midway on 200.

Nope!!!

In WOW I'm guessing you have to spend months or years even to be competitive compared with the other "high levels"

In AH, In theory, you have the same "stats" as oh..say Grizz...But nothing about the game would prevent you from beating him.

It's skill, patience, and experience here, not levels.

And AH does sheep, not elves

I played WoW for 6 years, played with a great bunch of people.

It's kind of like AH...the people you play with make the game fun.

Not much fun solo on AH or WoW.

Yup.  AH is one of the few games left where it's actually up to you as the player to do well in the game.  It's not about having the time and patience to grind up.

We're still not cool by any stretch of the imagination.
