 Powerplant: 8 × Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major radial engines, 4,000 hp (2,640 kW) each
 Propellers: four-bladed Hamilton Standard, prop, 1 per engine Propeller diameter: 17 ft 2 in (5.23 m)

 Cruise speed: 250 mph (407.98 km/h)
 Range: 3,000 mi (4,800 km)
 Service ceiling: 20,900 ft (6,370 m)


Plus it can haul a M4 tank or hundreds of paratroopers to capture an enemy base.

We need this plane for Late War arena and Special Events especially air racing.

Nope, just a sick person that wasted government money on a redicules huge transport AC that would make a easy traget.

resides in McMinnville Oregon, I went and toured it 2 summers ago......it's huge, and it's awesome, but it was ultimately nothing more than the pipe dream of a brilliant but deranged man

That's the official party line.  Secretly, after all the de-classification on WW2, we all know they took part in the D-Day invasion.  Dozens of Allied troops used them as cover by being pulled behind them via ropes and skis.  Unfornutately, no recorded evidence exists of these daring amphibious assaults onto Normandy shores.

Ahhh so true.

     It was also designed as a second ARK, the Hull design coming primarily from thought to be lost blueprints made by Noah.  That's why it's made of wood after all.

     Little known as well, is that with the wings removed it competed in the 1921 Olympics in the 800man scull class, although it lost to the space shuttle.
