any one know why the milatary alphabet chaged from WW1 to WW2 then to NAM to now?

like they change it every war almost.

he's talking about the changes to the phonetic alphabet that occurred in the military, from 1913 to 1957.

baker to bravo
able to affirmative to affirm to alpha
cast to charlie
george to golf
hypo to how to hotel

and so on...

short answer, standardization for use between all nato forces. at one time the navy used a slightly different alphabet than the army/aircorps did. it gets a bit confusing when you're waiting for a specific word and you get something a bit different.

also I believe the current phonetic alphabet uses words that are more phonectically distinct .
