C47 air drops
« on: October 28, 2011, 04:30:42 PM »
I posted this in Aircraft and Vehicles but on reflection thought this was better.

Is the altitude the same for troops as veh supplies in an air drop?

Online I did a drop that I knew should have been 1k agl for veh supplies yet they did not take.
Offline I tried another set at 2.5k and the chutes did not bloom yet when I tried paras at 1k
the chutes opened and worked fine.

I am  :headscratch:

Yes, the altitudes for the drops are the same for both troops and supplies. I believe the rule is 800 feet or above, and not over 150 IAS.

Be sure to have vehicle supplies and not field supplies.

Well this isnt really what you are asking but I find it best for veh supps to land the goon and then drop them so you arent accidently giving supps to the enemy if you miss a drop.

With troops I prefer the mushroom, easy and almost guranteed chute deplyment as well as keeping all drunks near the pole.

Hopefully that helps a little  :)

I dont think airspeed plays a part.  I have seen goons do the forced level ag 300 and realize troops that their chute opened

havent played kn 3 months so maybe they fixed it?
