something a typical cali kid like myself would make.
« on: October 30, 2011, 01:30:14 PM »
for those of you that dont know, i LOVE to longboard and i LOVE to engineer stuff together. So why not make one? In the end the person i made it for was very happy and so was i. in total it cost me about 200$. not so bad since it seems pretty good compared to the custom sectore 9 board i bought. The one i made is made out of stronger material and has better trucks than mine.

Nice long board. At least you're not trying to be part of the d'bag crowd strapping longboard trucks to snowboards.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

Is that a bad way to do it?

Well for one, idiots like to call them "free-boards" because you don't have to purchase a board. But you ruin a perfectly good snowboard, so its not any cheaper since you need to replace the snowboard you drilled holes into.

Second, snowboards aren't built to bear a persons weight when the board is suspended above ground from 2 points. They're built to evenly spread a persons weight across snow.

They're not nessicarily "unsafe", but they're definitly not as safe as actuall long boards.

Funny, I would not have called anything with small wheels attached to it safe, but it sure looks good. Nicely done Skyguns.  :aok

Damn, was actually planning on making the Snowboard i just retired into a long board lol. Actually thinking about it, that board has waaaaay to much flex in it to support me while on trucks lol. So mounted on the dorm wall it goes.

When you said freeboards I thought actual freebords (quite hard to use) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6slYk1zwIU&feature=relmfu

i hate longboarding, never even got into the concept of skateboarding-only snowboarding and dirtbiking (both using motorized and pedal bikes) for me. but that is one of the best home made longboards ive ever seen. nicely done.

No, just some idiots trying to be funny. Not sure if its an extremely localized thing, or what, but its funny as hell to watch them bottom out with their home-made "free-boards"  :lol.
