THrustmaster Warthog

Just replaced the roll axis on the cougar, now I have to replace the pitch axis. Thinking of getting the warthog but, don't know if i'll be in the same spot with that stick as well. I have a ch fighterstick and it is a great stick yet has no real spring to it. It centers and everything works but, still feels like a piece of plastic with buttons. Does the warthog require a whole bunch of programming for this game? Has anyone had any bad luck with it and if so please post. I was going to go to warthogworld but i'm sure it's all biased over there. Thinking of getting one after christmas for my next simpit build. After the x65 I got the cougar and there's nothing like using a metal stick after that. Also, how does the warthog work with AH2? I don't play A-10 or the flaming cliffs stuff. Waiting to try world of planes when it comes out.

Warthog is lower priced lately. You can get it for around $400. It's a different gimbal system than the Cougar, it's basically a ball joint. Just keep it covered to keep crap out of the grease. I use a round piece of inner tube to cover the joint and also have that covered with a leather skirt. I've used it for a year with no problems. You don't need to use the programming software. I just launch the software to turn the LEDs down.

You don't need to use the software to program AH for anything. I have been using my Warthog for about a year now and I love it. Best kit I have ever used. Some people can't stop complaining about a hitch in the center when moving through the axis' but I have/don't notice it and my gunnery still sucks just like it did before when I used Saitek, CH, TM Cougar, etc...

You can turn the LED lighting up and down? Sounds awsome! I think every stick except the CH's and of course the x65 that i've used have a little spot in the center because of just how they are made. I just wanted to get some opinion on the warthog before buying it by people who own and use  them. Thanks for the replies. I needed to look both ways before crossing that street. I've gone through 4 different sticks in a little over a year. The cougar will have parts shipped for it tomorrow to fix it. It should be back up and running in around 2 weeks. I don't want to go through the same thing with a warthog though. Again thanks for the replies.

I've gotten rid of all but the base of the x65 and still have to use the x65 throttle
since the cougar broke. The biggest scam out there is how the x65 was so durable and well made.
Those people never took one apart to see for themselves. I'll be getting my warthog after Christmas.

I have yet to hear anything bad about the warthog.  I cannot say the same about the cougar.

My cougar is great but the pitch axis broke. The actual metal gimbal snapped. I had just replaced the roll axis gimbal last month. Outside of that the stick is usually dead center all the time and never needed calibrating every few hours like the saiteks I have owned. When i get my warthog I'll be turning the cougar into a switch box.

 I've had my warthog since Jan. I had to return the JS to have it repaired but it's work flawlessly ever since. Some people report problems with the throttle,others have issues with JS but it seems it's one or the other and never both.  Check out warthog world and read the forums before you purchase.

 Some great mods are already being done with them and there's plenty of imformation in general.



 Before you purchase the stick,pm me I've found a place where they are generally cheaper than most,only hitch is it's out of Canada but worth checking.
