Pom-Pom Flak?
« on: November 01, 2011, 04:21:50 PM »
I was wondering when we will get Pom-Pom flak(puffy ack) for the air bases and such. They are really effective on the carriers, so i thought we should get it for the airfields.

Add onto it if you want.   :D
If your gonna fail, do it in such a way that people will be wondering how you managed to do that.

If it cant be fixed with duct tape, it cant be fixed at all.

In the real war it was somewhat effective. In AH it would probably be more effective than the 37mm. The thing is... You have to balance the end result... Does it mean nobody will ever even try to attack an airfield anymore, if this gun kills them any time they try?

So, there's a few things to consider. I don't have the answers, just a few comments that might broaden the topic for you.

We have it on the CV's but we still go at them and most of the time the attacker succeeds. why not add some to the airbases.  :salute  :)

They have puffy ack at the airfields in the WW1 arena... the lethality is turned WAY up (to prevent vulching there)... you usually only hear one boom from it... and you are in the tower.

The logical response to this question (when do we get puffy ack on the airfields) would actually be another question:

Do you like the idea of a single map being up for weeks on end, or until HT changes it?

Sometimes the base rolling hordemonkey short-forehead knuckle-dragger crowd makes me sigh, but when LW has a map that SUCKS, I'm not sad at all to log in the next day and find out the Bish won the WARZ, and a better map has taken its place.  :aok

Reality? I have two different points on it:

Change is the spice of life. Puffy ack all over the place would be ruinous, and cause things to stagnate.

"Grinder" is an Effin'awesome map. The sooner someone wins the current WARZ and that one pops back up, the happier Reaper will be.  :aok

Puffy ack on major airfields only?  :)

...And it was removed and more of the ack we have now was added to the fields.

It was pretty ineffective.

I think it was a mistake! I think HTC intended AAA guns, not puffy, and when pointed in a certain discussion they changed it to what they wanted.

I could be wrong, but I thought that's what happened.

For a Large Airfield and Port, yes.  Now, if we could get MORE puffy for defense of the Capital and puffy that will target multiple planes vs a single one or a single set... :noid

The puffy for the Capital at this time, could wait as hitting it is really considered pointless (unfortunately).  But puffy that targets multiple planes is something that could be do-able.

Put a 3 to 4 gun battery between the town and field. But heavy AA guns were directed by battery at 1 area of attack not each gun shooting in all directions. But bases and towns need heavy AA protection, 3.5, 90mm or 88s.

I'm interested in seeing a variety of AAA for airfields, I like the idea that large airfields should have more AAA and I agree, instead of the standard single 50 that seemly always hits me regardless of what alt/speed i'm at, I'd like to see instead of the standard 37mm on airfields, a flakvierling and possible a quad flakvierling.

Typical NOE with numbers will easily smash a base, however when defenders are ready and gun's pop - a Quad flak on a field could cause a headache for a vulcher. Puffy ack however would be another story, unless we fix the problem at hand with it automatically nailing people at any alt or speed, its going to be a serious taboo to add puffy over a field for now.

Unless we can get some 88's where people can use like 5 inch, then hmm........ possibilities!
