Easier offline mission setup
« on: November 06, 2011, 10:58:11 PM »
People should not have to move files around in folders to load and use an offline mission.    :headscratch:

I wish for an offline mission install command which when pushed allows you to select the offline mission zip file from your downloads folder and it automatically installs the mission (unzips, moves files to folders, etc) to then run it.

Also I wish that AH came with a couple dozen offline missions preinstalled, like coogan's for example, that are immediately available for practice and fun.  :aok

What's wrong with moving the files?

What's wrong with moving the files?

What's wrong with not having to find them and their proper folders, moving them manually, and preventing someone from accidentally moving the wrong files to the wrong places?

If you're lacking the IQ to put a file inside of a file, you probably shouldn't be putting files inside of files in the first place.

You'd have to change something, it's a lot easier to leave it the way it is.

If you know where to move them would you really "accidentally" move them in the wrong place? Technically you can but is the effort to change the way it works worth it?

Asking HTC to choose a couple dozen or more player made offline missions for inclusion / integration in AH.   :aok

While I don't think that auto install should be at the top of the 'to do' list at HTC the idea of having some pre installed simple offline missions such as air to air, air to ground, ground to ground, and bombing missions, might be beneficial to new members as well as older players.

The auto install feature would be nice but not something that's a game changer imo

:old: Should be very easy to do though.

Average around 2 or 2.5 meg or 1% of the AH download size for each.

24 missions would add roughly 25% to the download size.  If that's a problem, perhaps they can be preloaded in a boxed version, but it shouldn't be a problem.  Many game downloads are much larger (measured in gigs) and they could be downloaded in the background like the skins. :aok

i'm guessing the maps aren't included in those mission files...and not all of the maps are included in the basic game download. so you're wanting to turn a 229mb download and increase it just because you can't move files into the proper folders manually.

many games are 1+ gigabyte download size you say? yeah, right, if you say so...
