Paterno and all of his Happy Valley cronies put the reputation of the "program" ahead of the safety of children.

They should be run off in disgrace, at the least and hung in public at the worst.

He knew about it.

Should have canned the guy on the spot.

at the very least he failed badly in his duty of care :old:

at the worst (and most likely, in my opinion) he's a corrupt paedophile enabler who cared more for the reputation of an idiotic college football program than right and wrong

Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

Terrible situation for him, but he chose the wrong course.  One of his good friends was seen in the shower "wrassling" with a child.  If you say anything, your friends reputation will be destroyed, no matter if he is innocent.  He might of followed University policy in reporting deed, but he did't follow his gut feeling and report it to the police.

It appears that he told his superiors, but he didn't follow through by notifying the police. Seems to me like his idea was that if this story came out he could at least say he told "somebody". It's a shame that his long and iconic career will now be tainted because he ignored what was going on hoping it would just "go away".

I did some digging and all I am seeing is a bunch of bandwagoners and "lynch him now" types both in the media and in this thread.  Fact is the only bit of information some of you have is what the media is reporting and we all know the media is right on top of things, especially the "facts".   :huh

As I always say to those who were not there, did not see it, have not walked in another man's pair of shoes.... hold fast your tongues and judgements.  The media, like wiki, is not your friend.   ;)

I'm not sure if you're an idiot or just a terrible person  :headscratch:

It doesn't take much digging to see what the deal is here. Everyone who is trying to defend this scumbag as 'just following protocol by informing his superiors' is a moron. The only reason he did that instead of going to the police is to pass the buck and allow it to be swept under the rug. It's just sickening ;\

Just to re-iterate - they covered up multiple child molestation cases to protect a college football program

"WRASSLING?"

According to what his grad assistant reported, it was about as horrible as it gets and "wrassling" is not the correct word.  Everyone who knew of this had a responsibility to make sure the police were told and no one did.  It's pathetic.

You need to read the grand jury papers. That is not the so called news media.

There is still a lot of info that has not been released too.

That 23 page report is disturbing to say the least. Wait till they start seizing hard drives and the like and really blow the roof off of this thing. I seriously hope they all end up in jail Joe Pa included.

Just read it too, and I'm sickened.  What a disgusting predator.

He would receive capital punishment if I had my way.

The Grad Student should've reported it to the police.  He was 28 years old when he saw it.

Completely agree, but it almost sounds like he got strong armed by Paterno and The President.  I mean, you report it to the gods of Penn State, they say they'll take care of it.  It's gotta be hard to go over the top of the president and a legendary football coach.  Gotta do it though.  Shame he didn't make the right decision.
