Sounds like a driver or graphics-card issue.

Whenever I have graphical anomalies turning up, I try updating to the latest drivers.  Also, if possible, you might want to check the temperature of your GPU.  If your driver software can't do that, RivaTuner probably can.

I don't think it would be that.  I turn mine up high, and it doesn't do that.

Me either, but it think it might make a difference depending on the screen resolution of the game.

I bet more people than you think have the same problem.  We have become accustom to reading an icon to judge distances.  I have noticed that the plane will mesh with the environment and become less visible.  One possible solution would be addition of hyper reflective surfaces (boy would that kill framerates?).

A screenshot is the best thing to clear up the problem.

Filth, what kind of graphics card do you have? If you have not been having problems and all of a sudden you are, it could be an issue with hardware. Overheating graphics cards can lose frame rates and cause graphical glitches. First thing i would check is your fan on your graphics card. Make sure its spinning freely when the computer is on. Another likely suspect is your power supply. If it is on the fritz, it may not be delivering the power needed by the graphics card. While you have the case open, it is a good time to clean out any dust that has accumulated on the fans and heat sinks, including the fan and components located in the power supply.

If you have done all that and everything seems fine, I would suggest that you completely remove your graphics drivers, restart your computer, and then install new ones.

I have been having problems with Win 7 64-bit drivers (nvidia) in hi-res textures - in plain old 512 textures everything runs fine, but when I turn it up I get some funky visual effects and discos.

Maybe there is an issue between the latest drivers and whatever libraries HTC uses to make graphics?

I've got Win7/64, Nvidia and use hi-res textures and have never seen anything like this.
