This is the first of a series of winter and desert theater GV skins I'm working on. These are more for future scenarios than the MA, as there are winter terrains being worked on by the terrain team. However I'll still submit them as MA skins anyway. I'd like to thank Ranger for making me this winter terrain to display these skins in.
This tank was part of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler division during the battles for Kharkov in February-March 1943. During these battles the German army managed to halt the post-Stalingrad Soviet offensive before counter attacking to retake the city of Kharkov and later Belgorod. The LSSAH division became infamous for the atrocities they committed, massacring thousands of Soviet prisoners.
Technically the Panzer IV I have skinned here was an Ausf G, however there is very little difference between an early G and an F2. Mostly its the lack of the side vision ports on the G. The turret numbers on this scheme are often depicted in red on models, but this is incorrect. The real tanks had white outline numbers with just the base colour of the tank (brown or dark grey) on the inside of the outline. The winter whitewash was painted up to the white outline of the number, just leaving the grey or brown centre of the number exposed.
