Norway 1944-
ELIMINATE THE THREAT

The place… Norwegian waters.. The time… November , 1944
The below set up represents the events leading to the sinking of the German battleship
 Tirpitz
“The destruction, or even the crippling, of this ship is the greatest event at sea at the present time. No other target is comparable to it. The entire naval situation throughout the world would be altered."
Winston Churchill
By any standards, the Tirpitz was a major threat to the Russian convoys as well as the Atlantic convoys.

On November 12th, 1944, the Tirpitz was attacked by 29 Lancaster's - including some from 617 Dambuster Squadron. Flying at 14,000 feet, their new Mark XIV bombsight gave them an excellent target to aim at. 'Blockbuster' bombs ripped into the ship and a 100 feet hole was ripped open. Her magazines exploded and the Tirpitz rolled over trapping over 1000 men in her as she turned turtle. A few - 80 men - managed to get to the bottom of the hull where a hole was cut through it and the men escaped. Many others were not so lucky.
Though the career of the Tirpitz may have seemed a failure, she did succeed in tying up a great number of Home Fleet ships which had to be on a constant alert that she would not sail out into the Atlantic or harass the Artic convoys.

It looks very interesting. I don't think the P-47M has any business whatsoever being in this setup, though.

Aside from that, nice presentation, and nice Tirpitz art  :aok

The field dar on this map is whacked out..... you can be right over an airfield, no dar triggered... but then go outside the dar ring, then it triggers...and stays triggered for quite a while outside of the dar ring.

It is off...I have had other staffers look at it... All is set correctly..

But..The bases will not flash for some time... Then suddenly they will.. I see the dar dots with no issue. It seems to be confined to base flashing.. Only the fighter boat bomber warning range is delayed and radar update is only 2 sec..
Even if set to 5 miles out some times the bases flash some times they don't
Will take another peek.. Thanks...

Nah, sorry, no offense but the dar is way off.  i up 2 dar rings width out and triggers dar.  And, if I come in from nw, I can get on top of town and base, no dar triggered until I get south of dar.
