the Vk107 equipped Yak3 purportedly achieved 5000m in 3.9 minutes. (same source)

Hard alcohol diluted in heavy water = heavy alcohol.  Duh.  Iran?  Not secretly in the nuclear business, its in the distillery business.

Yak 3!  But I'll admit the only reason I voted for it was to get my Yak-9 a re-model.  Half the range of a Yak-9?  That's pretty f - ing bad, as I normally take 75% or 100% fuel in a Yak-9 right now.  Half the range would be very limiting.  I hope that's not accurate.

Edit for you can't say "f - i n g".

This is the Captain.  We have a lil' problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

The Yak-3 had roughly 12% less range than the Yak-9U.  550km vs. 675km, respectively.  And, "Yes."  This is the 105 motor in the Yak-3 vs. the 107 motor in the Yak-9U.

To give a comparison, the La-7 had a range of 570km.  The Yak-3 could stay up roughly as long as our in-game La-7s.  Possibly longer, considering that the La-7 burns more fuel when WEP is engaged, under combat conditions.

Yak-3  +1

I don't mind if it has less range than the Yak-9.  I have no issue throttling back a bit to save fuel if using it for an extended sortie.  If I show up on your 6 you better believe I'll have ample fuel to finish what I start.  :lol

Me either.  Climb like a rocket and set throttle to max cruise.  Man......I'd really like to have this plane.

Honestly the best way to approach an aircraft with this kinda of fuel issue is to climb at least to 10k then throttle back, i'm getting more used to doing this in a C205 rather then "full speed ahead" approach like a P51D or such.

Granted the Yak doesn't suffer from a WEP issue, C205 has a nasty wep where 10 minutes can burn through fuel in no time.
