I know things did not quite work out the way you had hoped it would Steve.

I know ebfd pretty well and I am sure when he said about over-nighting the stuff to you he had no idea how expensive that would be. This is a lack of foresight on his part. I am sure of one thing though, he most likely stood there for a while pondering what to do and felt like crap for quite sometime after making the decision to send it the less expensive route. The thing is he would do most anything for anyone even if he does not know you all that well. And just so you know the big reason the expense was such a big deal is he has had to endure less income for the sake of caring for a family member that needs round the clock care and not just the fact that he did not want to spend the money. (Hopefully not too much info for you eb)

I also commend you Steve for taking the time to cool off before making a decision about your dilemma. I can not say I would have. Many people myself included have a tendency to assume the worst and take the first action that comes to mind.

ebfd I suggest the next time not making it public though. More times than not it creates witch hunts that have tendencies to blow things out of proportion.

In ebfd's defense, he wasn't the one the brought up the player's name, everyone just kind of figured it out.  I mean, it didn't take a detective to figure it out, but I don't think this is how he pictured this thread going.

 :rofl :rofl

The only thing this thread needs is a Kardashian, and/or a stereotypical red-blood American doing something odd for a living to make this TV-worthy  :bolt:

Well this is good to know, about your friend.  I was so incensed about this thread that I couldn't think straight when posting....lol.

Actually, I came forward.

Ah, sorry, I see that now.  Some of us were nosy and figured it out before.   :lol

Hope it all worked out, it was rather entertaining to read all the emotional posts from people have absolutely no invested interest in all of this.

Yup people get emotional when anyone mentions being robbed, having things stolen, or someone destroying personal property. Many have had to endure those types in the past.

In this case it turned out to be none of the above. That is good news.

As for myself... I appologize to Steve for thinking he was taking advantage of this individual. I do not know either person other than on these boards. I however am a victim of crime in the past and take it to heart quickly.

Well since it appears that the two parties involved have reached some kind of an agreement there really is no point in speculating exactly who said what or who did what any longer.

All we can do is try to learn from their mistakes so let's go over who did what wrong.  Keep in mind this has nothing to do with judging on a person's character... it's just plain common sense:

EBFD screwed up by:

  • Sending the product off before payment was received.
  • Sending the product using the incorrect shipping method - and not doing the proper research before things ended up getting to this point.
  • Sending the product off incomplete.
  • Bringing the matter to a public forum before even giving a reasonable amount of time for things to get settled.

STEVE screwed up by:

  • Letting his anger get the best of him and saying things that probably shouldn't have been said.
  • Implying that he was not going to pay for the goods because of the mix-up.
  • Assuming everything would work out and paying outrageous overnight charges from Newegg (I mean come on.. that's such a waste of money IMO - but that's my opinion to make).
  • Letting his PM mailbox get full.  I don't know the details behind this so it's mostly speculation but come on now!

Reading this thread reminded me of the Air Emergency show where it shows that one pilot screwed this up and another screwed that up and then the maintenance guys screwed this up and then the flight attendant screwed that up.  It's like there were so many mistakes made by so many people that disaster was imminent!  And the more that was posted about it, the deeper things got!

Next time when you're selling/buying something sight unseen online try applying some common sense tactics.  DO YOUR RESEARCH.  Require payment before you ship (Paypal is a great resource for things such as this).  Don't assume the packages will get there when they are supposed to.  Don't expect the seller to be responsible for things if they aren't.  If in doubt ASK QUESTIONS!

Learn from these mistakes people and don't let this sort of thing happen again.

This would probably be best settled with a ring of a doorbell, a paperbag, matches and something from a dog.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Everyone, it's all cool, for my part.
I get heated and intense just like everyone else so I understand completely. I am also quick to defend a friend.
I could have handled this thread better myself. . I was so irritated that this thread was started in the first place, and that a squaddie of mine was leading the charge of the tar and feather wing of AHII,  that I did nothing to calm things down,  but rather I fueled the flames.  I apologize for that and for my unkind words.
