Join requests should default to text buffer
« on: November 23, 2011, 06:12:40 AM »
Is this something that has already been addressed? Nothing compares to what screams though your mind when you get a join request during a dog fight .. in a 262... well almost nothing.

i think you can just type in .showjoin 0 and it will pop up in the buffer.

i think you can just type in .showjoin 0 and it will pop up in the buffer.

And it usually persists from session to session, but I think it gets reset if you switch to an arena hosted on a different server (read: different IP address at the data center).

If for some reason you want to set it back to a pop-up window, type in .showjoin 1

So its not default and therefore it hasn't been addressed. If it gets addressed its something i won't have to add to my start up "ritual".

You only need to do it once. Set it and forget it.

The fact that it pops up in the center of your screen at all is a flaw in logic.

At least have it pop up in a quadrant corner

Some people like the functionality of the popup (clicking accept rather than typing .accept)...its faster...

The work around is is the showjoin thing...and it is a work around to a gui logic flaw for those who would rather have the pop...and NOT have it center on screen

The pop window should be movable (it is) and its position should be remembered (its not)

For now... the only solution is showjoin 0

Ahh yes, except that now we must bring up our clipboard in order for the mouse pointer to function.

So it's a three step process to deal with someone that wants to join.

1) Open clipboard
2) Deal with request
3) Close clipboard
