It works with Linux and Wine
« on: November 24, 2011, 12:20:21 PM »
I've been enjoying success with the Aces High Mission Editors on my PcLinuxOs 2011 platform and Wine 1.2.2. I'm using a 3-year-old Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with nVidia G84M [Quadro NVS140M] graphics.

My favorite old version of the Mission Editor (from V2.12.4) works fine. The newest version (from 2.26.3) suffers from the same bugs under Linux that Windows users have observed: it corrupts mission source code files if used to edit any changes. I am having success by using the editor from V2.12.4 to make changes, and the compiler from 2.26.3 to compile the results. All of this works exactly the same whether under Windows XP or PcLinuxOs 2011. The version of Wine I am using came free, directly from the PcLinuxOs repository in the usual way, and I didn't need to tweak anything. Just a simple download and install and whammo.... working.
