Maybe they're talking the "ground clutter" saplings, not the big forest air cover stuff?

Partially correct.  You are correct about the speed but incorrect about the PBY doing "less".  The PBY was vital to the war effort in the PTO throughout the entire war and it's an insult to those PBY crewmen to dismiss the Catalina by claiming it didn't play any significant role during the war.

ack-ack

a pby spotted the bismark and found nagumoes (not spelled right but sounds it) carriers in battle of midway. besides all the antishipping it did.
+1 for pby id fly her all day... and you could on 25% fuel lol

Sadly, we need shipping for it to have a more solid role in AH right now. :cry

hunt down the resupplying barges?

Translation: Free kill to whoever ups for ya since they will be able to track you for few minutes before you reach the barges.  Not to mention that the manned 37mm can hit you from the barges spawn point.  They do not spawn very far from the base, since they move so slow (unlike the convoy trucks).  I was thinking more along the lines of what Skyguns MkII was mentioning in his thread.

1) Hurricane update
2) Lancaster update
3) C.202 and C.205 update
4) More convoys/barges/trains possibly running directly to airfields/ports/Vehicle bases
I think HTC should worry about updating and refining what we already have BEFORE introducing new things.

Ki-43 - Probably the most important Japanese plane missing from the set
Ki-44 - Another major player by Japan in the war.
Ki-45 - Japan is missing an appropriate heavy fighter. The last time I flew in a scenario involving Japanese heavy fighters Bf-110Cs were substituted. It's not a real replacement.
J2M - Would offer the Japanese plane set its most competitive design in late-war scenarios
B6N - It would be at least SOMEWHAT more survivable than the Kate
D4Y - Ditto for the Val
F4F-3 - The F4F-4 with 4-gun package is more accurately an FM-1 and not actually a substitute. The F4F-3 was slightly faster, lighter, and had more internal fuel.
TBD - Let's face it, it's just not right having TBMs at Coral Sea, and more than six of them at Midway
SB2C - Main USN bombing platform for end-war scenarios.
B-17F - B-17G is inappropriate for any PTO setup. Plus it would allow famous skins such as Memphis Belle.
B-25J - In both glass and solid-nose 12-gun strafer versions. Most representative B-25, and would offer a somewhat more survivable level bomber option than the C.
An AP mix option for the B-25H's main gun

P-38s could carry a couple 2000lbers as well.

I am not sure I like the idea of increasing bomb loads for fighters.

I would be in favor of limiting fighters to 500lb/250kg bombs, the most common bombs they carried, but having the 1000lb/2000lb/500kg bombs available for perk points.

clear optics for all GVs

This was done specifically because some optics WERE less clear than others.

Personally I'd prefer if all aircraft were set to use only their historical gunsights at their correct MIL sizes.

He-177 had a bombload same as that of a b17...right?

On the optics... yeah I know, but if I can create a custom gunsite for killing GVs with AT rockets, why must my t34 optics be low quality for "realism"?
