Crossfire support Yikes, 700 bucks right there.

Very nice card though.

Getback, most ATI cards support it. I don't have crossfire, just the 1 card.

Ripley: Nope, I've seen both DVIs go into a single plug about 4 inches out, and that single plug then goes to 1 adapter. Like I said I don't know the specifics though. I have heard some comments and snippets about when you use one of the DVIs in a dual-DVI for a high res monitor the other DVI doesn't output, or some such. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do research on it, but either way you still get 2 DVI, 2 mini-DP, and a HDMI.

Even if the DVI plug is short, they will accept regular dvi cables from the computer or monitor. Since a single display can't accept multiple image sources (separate dvi outputs) without specialized software/hardware to support it the split head cables you saw are with 99% certainty dual monitor splitters which split a single dvi output to dual monitor inputs. If it would be dual computer input -> one monitor, it would require a switch in between to avoid the two signals mixing up. However the other way round a simple cable will do.

Not all graphics card can do dual-head or triple-head in general so it's very much possible that they will disable the other port when showing high-res picture. But all Eyefinity cards will run max resolutions on every output with no problems, gaming fps probs excluded naturally.

Perhaps what Krusty saw was a dual-link to single-link adaptor?

Nope, that's not it. It's not important enough to sidetrack a thread about, but if I ever do run across reference to it I'll post on this forum.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am also planning on going to a multi monitor setup one day but until  I win the lottery I wont see that happen anytime soon. In the past several years AH has improved a great deal graphically and I assume it will continue to improve. I am wanting to get a card that will last several years as AH grows. I plan for this card to last me until the end of my next build so it maybe 6 to 7 years before I get a new card. I know each game has a certain preference to one brand over another. I was just curious if anyone knew if AH ran better on AMD or Nvidia.

used monitors are found plenty and cheap on ebay. Just have to put up with a few scratches or dings.

A hint I've read being the secret weapon of American techies: ArmorAll cockpit protectant makes many scratches disappear. I've used the semi-matt version with success on both matt and glary monitors.  :old:

Krusty with that card if you decide to go with the eye-finity, do you have to buy any special adapters to go with a triple screen?? I am curious because I may go that route.

Depends on the monitors. It has 2 DVI, and 2 mini-DP. If you don't have a monitor with mini-DP capability, yes you'll need an adapter.
