Actually I looked into that to get myself a summer job delivering to the summer houses on the beach.
Unfortunately nowadays paper boys are paper men and drive around in there suburbans throwing papers under everybodies cars intentionally. 
Yep, the paper business is drying up for kids. But money can always always be made out there. Those same people that get their paper from a man in a van down by the river,,,

may also need their porch fixed or gutters cleaned. My 14 yr old went out a got 3 pickup loads of scrap steel and made 85 bucks in 4 hours. Work and money is out there, ya just got to go do it.
edit: my son even paid me for the gas I used hauling him around when he was done and split the money with his cousin and had 40 bucks left over. That comes out to 10 bucks a hour. Not bad for 14.

my other son however wants nothing more then have girlfriends on Yoville

got some work to do on that one.
