anyone play AH on their TV via HDMI?
« on: December 07, 2011, 10:01:34 AM »
just wondering!

when I first started playing AH, on my laptop, I unfortunately couldn't get it to work on the bigscreen TV via HDMI...as soon as the game launched the HDMI output would stop working :(

been playing with a desktop PC and 22" monitor since then, but I feel like trying to run it on the big TV again...if there is someone out there who successfully plays AH on their TV via HDMI I'd like to hear from them, just to know that it can be done!

  cheers

via HDMI, your TV screen will be handled by windows like any PC screen. It will be able to see what maximum resolution it can have etc, so you should be fine!

I believe a PC screen is still superior for the delay, constrast, colors etc...

mmm indeed, with my laptop it worked fine for Windows and every game I tried........except KotOR and AH! ;)

WWhiskey, thanks for that. Encouraging to hear as I have a 42" Samsung as well. I'll give it a go tonight.

If you are going to use the HDMI connection to a television, you have to make sure the resolution is correctly set in the game to match the television.

The game does not care what the display is and has no control over it.  If it is not working, it usually means the refresh rate and/or resolution is not set correctly to match the television.

yeah - it was pretty nice for AH, but no good for anything else except watching movies really

so you're using what? DVI to DVI? or DVI to HDMI?

Also one thing you need to worry about when using your TV is make sure you have the latest drivers(firmware) updated so you can get the best resolution you can.

I am using a 37" Toshiba with an HDMI 120 frame rate. 1,000,000 to 1 with a 2ms delay. It took me a little tweaking to get the optimum settings to get it that way. I went with a mini HDMI cable meant fro a digital camera to a full sized HDMI cable.

Any questions just give me a PM or ask here and I can try to help you out.
