Captured German Stuff in colour, 1943
« on: December 07, 2011, 02:50:13 PM »
Don't know if this has been posted before, a hap-happy summer afternoon along the banks of the Moskva in 1943, looking at german equipment. Planes, guns, tanks, vehicles, mortars etc, including a brief but disturbing little section on what I assume is Wehrmacht soldiers' sadly pathetic attempts to stay warm in Stalingrad.

Rumour has it Vladimir Putin himself travelled back in time with a mighty whoosh and wrestled these bits of kit from the Germans with his bare hands.

Maybe some of the Luft guys can comment on the camo schemes - all of them seem to feature a splash of yellow somewhere.

Za Rodinu, Tovaritch, and have a Krasny day.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

That is a great video!  Thanks for sharing!

I think they had at least one of everything on display!   :)

EDIT:  Someone time the quad 20mm (same mount as Wirby) being traversed by the Soviet lady crew member at 5:15.   ;)  Compare it.   :D

I think the big SP gun at around 11:30 is quite a rare bird, Sturer Emil.

Apparently survives to this day in the Kubinka Tank Museum.

Very nice. What was the twin tail fighter/attack which had a large strange shaped cockpit with pointed rear glass?  :salute

engines look small, how did it perform? Low production numbers? No actual combat? just wonder why we've never seen it before.  :airplane:
