This C.202 belonged to Italian ace Franco Lucchini. Franco took comand of the 84 Squadriglia of 4 Stormo on November 30
th, 1941. The squad was equipped with C.202s by the end of that year.
Lucchini's last flight was on July 5th, 1943, when he was engaging Allied B-17s. Lucchini damaged four bombers and a Spitfire escort before taking damage and crashing into the ground.
It's unknown exactly how many kills Lucchini actually had because of the way that credit was awarded at the time. Estimates are that Lucchini had as many as 22 kills and 52 shared victories.
Franco Lucchini was stationed over North Africa while he flew this particular plane.
