C.202 84-12
« on: April 04, 2014, 01:53:41 PM »
This C.202 belonged to Italian ace Franco Lucchini. Franco took comand of the 84 Squadriglia of 4 Stormo on November 30th, 1941. The squad was equipped with C.202s by the end of that year.

Lucchini's last flight was on July 5th, 1943, when he was engaging Allied B-17s. Lucchini damaged four bombers and a Spitfire escort before taking damage and crashing into the ground.

It's unknown exactly how many kills Lucchini actually had because of the way that credit was awarded at the time. Estimates are that Lucchini had as many as 22 kills and 52 shared victories.

Franco Lucchini was stationed over North Africa while he flew this particular plane.

Nice. I like it.   :aok

My question is regarding the color of the tan- was it really that dark?

Skins seems to be a little darker than in the black & white.  The skins feels to have a bit more orange in it than it should. :headscratch:

Either way, nice work! :salute

I was thinking the same thing, having second opinions helps. Should be pretty simple to fix the overall color. The original was too light, so I adjusted it and I guess I adjusted it too far.

How about now?

Making it 1 shade lighter may do the trick.  It's tough with just the one photo to tell. :headscratch:

This one is supposedly the same aircraft but with no tail number to go off of, I didn't want to include it as a reference.

This however, is most likely the same aircraft... thought it crashed though...  :headscratch:

The most green bits look a bit thicker in the photo's than on your skin.  Going off the crashed photo though, you seem to have the base color a nudge dark.  Quite literally a nudge. :lol  Definitely better though. :aok

Its looking good Dragon Tamer. The colours look a bit bright to my eyes, particularly the green. I'd suggest reducing the saturation of the brown slightly and the green a fair bit.

Also the exhaust stain on the fuselage should spread out vertically from behind the exhaust and then taper back down to a point with the effect gradually fading towards the edges and to the rear.

Nice skin! I use some of your others. I wish I had your patience.

if your target is the painting in the op, the painting still looks more tan than the skin. The painting also seems to have faded edges on the green splotches.

Please don't take it the wrong way; I have no clue how to make the changes I suggested...just figured you were looking for input through others eyes, although partially color blind...

Keep it up!  ~S~ Buck
