A few pics of the storch in real life
« on: December 09, 2011, 08:50:54 AM »

Pics taken a few years ago for the Battle of Britain event in Ottawa, Canada.

When I took the picture of the rear gunner I thought. If I was this guy behind,

I wish I never see a fighter coming close to us. Don't think I would even scare

him with this gun.   :D

The gun is there to help it go faster when they shoot it....

Any gun of that caliber can kill you. While its not the uber 50 cal or cannons that are on display AH, it is certainley capable of shooting a plane down. There were a lot of planes shot down by infantry munitions, so that gun would not be taken lightly.

I'm sure that one little gun provided more comfort than the "one fingered salute" that was the only option for unarmed planes
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

As the others said, in real life, they took that gun VERY seriously.  Only the dead and the lucky plowed through the hail of fire it put out to go for get the kill.

It's not ugly, but I agree with the HOing part.

Fear the 7.7mm, in Aces High it will pass through the ballistic glass and armor of the IL-2 wounding the pilot.

I think the storch is a complete waste of resouses, yes at first it sounds like good fun, but what is the point...Why not have a fighter that can take off from a dirt strip base, and enable some of the planes already in AH to drop a smoke bomb.
What will be the reward for the storch pilot after he has smoked target for the campers. I just can't see how its gonna work.

Seems like that particular aircraft is quite far from an original Storch.

Very down scaled:

Dpn't think of it as being a really "small" plane. It's larger than a FW 190, has a larger wingspan than the P-47 even.

Naaa Lusche, it's the same plane, they just put yours on steroids and became the Hulk Storch.  :aok :aok

Seriously it's only after I saw the upcoming plane in AH that I remembered taking a picture of a plane looking similar. Don't know anything about them.  ;)
