M3 Skins
« on: December 09, 2011, 10:59:36 PM »
Just curious, anyone know who is responsible for the default skin on the M3?

I'm trying to collect some decent pictures of the M3 for my first custom skin.  Any suggestions???

HTC Staff did that.

I have posted profiles in the skins forum.

Some of you have shown to have in your possession an extensive resource of skins.

If any of you have any representations of skins for BRITISH M3 half-tracks, and are able to post them here, I'd would appreciate it dearly.  I've found a few online, but nothing to build a skin from.

Thanks a many.

I have at least 4 dozen profiles for the M3 (let me know if you need M16s, or 75mm armed M3s)

There are only 2 that I've found, most of the profiles I have found simply are to damaging to really be of use, mainly from the age of the books.

Thanks for the pics!  I will add them to what I already have and see which ones I can use.  I'm liking pic #2 of the the British examples you posted, the 8 Bn/Rifle Bgd/11 Armored Div.

I have a couple of questions for the vets on the skinning team:

Looking at the second picture, is it safe to assume that the lower tan/brown is from the mud and clay that has been kicked up, or was it painted that way?  Is the olive drab found on British M3's going to be much different than what is found on US M3's?  I'm trying to find as close of a shade of green as possible, and being it 1944 is the shade of the M3 going to be a bit faded from being baked in the sun?  With that being said, the picture is showing a non-solid green almost as if the green was painted over top a desert tan color (but yet the 11th AD never went to N Africa or Italia)....

Thoughts???

I did some more checking, it seems impossible for me to find any other or updated british markings, there are some books I don't have, unfortunately of all the British divisions I have, none have photos of m3 markings, only the division emblems etc.

Which doesn't help when the profile paint is far different.
